The single stayed at number one for one week and spent a total of sixteen weeks on the country chart. The song was covered by Uncle Tupelo and released as a bonus track on their 2003 re-release of Anodyne. The B-side to "Are You Sure ..." was "Bob Wills is Still the King," a tribute to the music of Wills. Although it never charted on its own, "Bob Wills ...
